MEDIA ADVISORY GFiber to begin construction in Cibolo
Media invited to attend groundbreaking event with Mayor Latimer and The Chamber Schertz-Cibolo-Selma Area of Commerce leadership
WHAT: GFiber, formerly Google Fiber, will continue its expansion in Guadalupe and Bexar Counties, highlighted by a groundbreaking to mark the start of construction in Cibolo on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Cibolo City Hall Annex.
Representatives from GFiber, the City of Cibolo, and the Chamber of Commerce Schertz-Cibolo-Selma Area will offer brief remarks and participate in a traditional shovel-in-dirt photo opportunity.
In October 2024, the Cibolo City Council approved an agreement allowing GFiber to install, maintain and operate its high-speed fiber optic network in the public right of way. This expansion builds on GFiber’s continued growth across Texas, including plans for additional communities throughout the Northeast San Antonio Metrocom.
