Description
Join us for our Monthly Chamber luncheon for education, networking and current updates on business trends, area developments and local events. This month The Chamber welcomes Texas Secretary of State Rolando B. Pablos to give updates from The Capitol.
Rolando B. Pablos
Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Rolando B. Pablos to serve as the 111th Texas Secretary of State on January 5th, 2017.
Secretary Pablos has a long history of public service including numerous local, state and federal appointments. Most recently, he served as commissioner on the Texas Racing Commission and the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
Pablos was the founding CEO of the El Paso-based Borderplex Alliance. As a bi-national economic development organization, the Borderplex Alliance helped promote prosperity and strengthen trade and commercial relationships on both sides of the US-Mexico border.
Both as a state official and in private practice as a lawyer, Secretary Pablos has played critical roles in the advancement of international trade with Texas, especially through his advocacy for cross-border collaboration between the U.S. and Mexico.
Secretary Pablos also served as Honorary Consul to Spain, working to ensure the formation and development of business and diplomatic relationships.
After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Mary's University, Secretary Pablos earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a master’s degree in hospitality management from the University of Houston. He earned a juris doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law.
Secretary Pablos is a licensed attorney and founding partner of RB Pablos P.C. He and his wife, Dr. Laura San Martin, live in Austin with their four children, Cristina, David, Mia and Andrea.
